We are a small cattery located near Rushville, Illinois. The BabyHimis Cattery is registered with CFA. We started our cattery approximately 4 years ago by purchasing Gypsy. I, Jeanette Benner, have always wanted a himalayan of my own. Four years ago I finally got that wish. My husband, Daniel Benner, had previous experience with showing cats during his high school career. We had always wanted to breed cats. The search began with a million hours on the internet looking for that perfect female. We found Gypsy and was delighted! The search was even harder for the male since it was inbetween breeding cycles. With another long period of searching we found High Love.
After six months we decided that we needed another female, one with a different look than Gypsy. Oh, the search was on again. We found Star, finally. Now we had three kittens to watch grow together. We bred Gypsy when she was 14 months old, wanted to wait til she was fully developed. She gave us Little Bear, which is Jeanette's cat all the way. We kept him, its hard to let go of them after you spend so much time with them. We bred Star at about the same age, she gave us three beautiful kittens that we exactly what we wanted. She had that different look from Gypsy so her kittens did too. These cats are Jeanette's babies until we had one of our own. Anna joined us last July. She absolutely loves cats!
We are a cageless cattery, where all the cats are underfoot. We find that the more time we spend with the kittens, the better socialized they are (more family oriented). Its important for us to develop these kittens so all children and parents can be comfortable with them. By the time they leave our house, they are well familiar with children. As for their appearance, they are all beautiful; short bodied, blue eyed, and awesome hair.
All our mommas and the poppa have been DNA tested for PKD by the University of California. They have all tested negative for the PKD gene. Knowing this disease is painful and kills at an early age, we did not want that for any of our cats.
We plan on being available for many years to come. Bringing our customers the best we can offer. All proceeds from the sales are going towards Anna's education.
